"You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him." (Luke 12:40, NIV)
First of all I want to say a HAPPY NEW YEAR 2021. Grace and peace from God, our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ be with us all. We should be grateful that it has been more than 10 months in 2020 that we have just gone through, because of His grace we have been able to get through the struggles of the Covid-19 pandemic that has spread all over the world. Even though the world is still facing big challenges in overcoming this pandemic, we should be grateful because God has helped us to enter this new year well. If we read and understand the truth of His Word and see the signs that are happening in our world today, then all of that leads to the plan of the Lord Jesus' second coming which is getting closer. But the question now is, are we ready to welcome His second coming?
Like the events that happened lately, many Christians predict and interpret the signs of the end times and the signs of the Lord Jesus' second coming that will happen soon will fulfill what is written in the truth of His Word. In His message to His disciples, the Lord Jesus said in Luke 12:40, "Be ready also, for the Son of Man will come at an hour you do not expect." In this case Jesus wanted to remind us of the coming. His second time, which is not what we think, is that we as believers can always be ready waiting for His second coming. The second coming of Jesus Christ will occur just as when Noah prepared the ark to be used for the coming of the water flood (Matthew 24: 37-44). Jesus comes as a thief in the night and everyone does not know when the thief will come to his house to steal. In Matthew 24: 3-14 there are also early announcements of signs of His coming, that is, many people will come in His name to deceive many people, there will be wars or rumors of wars, there will be nations that rise up against nations, and kingdoms against kingdom, there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. But all of that was just the beginning of the suffering leading up to His coming. Therefore, the Lord Jesus wants to invite us to have faith in Him (Luke 18: 8), be ready because we don't know when He will come (Luke 12:40). What those who are ready need is faithfulness. Therefore, let's always be ready at all times to welcome His coming by believing, being faithful, obedient and asking for the assistance of the Holy Spirit at all times.
The first Christmas, which is the coming of the Lord Jesus as the Savior of the world, has passed around 2000 years ago and we are currently waiting for the fulfillment of "the second Christmas", namely the coming of the Lord Jesus at the second time as a just Judge. Let us fulfill our call to reach the finish line while maintaining faith until we receive the crown of righteousness that God has provided, the just Judge, on the day of His coming (2 Timothy 4: 7-8). One day, we must appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that everyone may receive what he deserves, according to what he did in this life, good or evil (2 Corinthians 5:10). People who live a good life, who know God's will, who are holy, who are wise, who obey His commands, who are faithful, who are ready, who are faithful, who are watching, etc. are those who are ready to welcome His second coming. Let us be a generation that is ready to welcome the Lord Jesus' second coming. When He comes later, let Him be able to say to us, Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your masters happiness! (Matt. 25:21, 23). Amen!
