"It is enough for students to be like their teachers, and servants like their masters. (Matthew 10:25a)
At the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Indonesian Mission Church in Frankfurt on June 4 2023, the topic "Prepare the way for the Lord" was taken from Luke 1:17.
Luke 1:17 is a prophecy for John the Baptist. As John the Baptist grew
up he walked before God in the spirit and power of Elijah. He brought
news of repentance and many souls won for God and thus prepared for God
a people worthy of Him. It was a time of revival in the time of John the
Baptist. John the Baptist was called to prepare the way for God in the
early days of the Lord Jesus presence on this earth. Just like John
the Baptist, every mature disciple of God in these last days is also called
to prepare the way for God to welcome His second coming. When the Lord
Jesus told His disciples about the persecution that would occur in the
last days, He also said that a disciple is nothing more than a teacher,
or a servant than his master. It is enough for a disciple to be like his
teacher and for a servant to be like his master (Matthew 10:24-25a). And
then in the following verses, the Lord Jesus also said that we should
not be afraid of those who can kill the body, but cannot kill the soul
(ay. 26-31). We must fear especially God who has the power to destroy
both soul and body in hell. Let's be mature disciples of Christ who want
to confess God in front of people, so that He will also acknowledge us
in front of the Father in heaven (ay. 32-33).
In these months many families and individuals are planning a vacation
somewhere or planning a vacation to Indonesia, so usually there are many
Christians who think about things that can please them and schedule various
programs to go to places. Let us recall what the Lord longs for from us
His disciples. God longs for us to go to make disciples of all nations
and be witnesses of the living God in these last days. Let's be mature
disciples just like John the Baptist who dared to pay the price to convey
the news of repentance and win many souls. God bless us all. Amen!
