"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, Gods special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2: 9)
Mission & evangelism are very important tasks for us who are sanctified
by God. God wants us to do this job well until the end. Speaking of service,
which was the subtopic from September to October, it we can do our service
in the midst of the believers' lives (Colossians 1:25; 1 Corinthians 12:
5), but mission & evangelism is our service to the unsaved. Fulfilling
missionary and evangelistic duties is our primary responsibility that
must be carried out before the Lord Jesus returns a second time. And we
who have been called to be part of a holy nation must preach the great
deeds of Him who called us out of darkness into His wonderful light. This
is part of our responsibility in carrying out the great commission of
Christ. When we are ready to carry out his great mission, the Lord Jesus
will be with us until the end of time (Matthew 28:20).
Mission and evangelism are two things that cannot be separated. The word mission comes from the Latin word for "to send". The consecrated Christian will be ready to be sent out to fulfill the great commission of Christ. Jesus said, "When the Father sent me, I sent you also" (John 20:21). Jesus managed to fulfill his mission and evangelism while living his life in this world. At the age of 12, he said, I have to be in my father's house (Luke 2:49), the King James Version says, I have to work on my father's business, and after 20 years after that, while he died on the cross, he said, "It is finished" (John 19:30). These two statements show that we who are sanctified can also have goals that must be fulfilled while we live in this world. Before Jesus ascended to heaven, he commanded us, his disciples, to pass on his great mission to as many people as possible who did not know him.
Mission and evangelism should be a task for people whose lives are sanctified by God. What the Lord Jesus did with his physical body while he was living on this earth, we must continue as his spiritual body. When he lived on this earth as the Son of Man, his sacred heart was always full of compassion. He always tries to lead people into his kingdom. This is our common mission and evangelistic task. The apostle Paul said to the Corinthians: "And these things are from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and who entrusted us with the ministry of reconciliation" (2 Corinthians 5:18).
God wants to redeem people from Satan and reconcile them to themselves. We are called to be followers of Christ who will continue to be sanctified in order to continue to win souls. Perhaps there are family members, friends, and people around us who do not know God. Let us preach the great works of Him (1 Peter 2: 9). Let the church, loved and sanctified by God, be instruments in His hands, sharing the good news of Christ with those who still live in the dark. God be with us who are obedient and faithful to carry out his great mission.. Amen.
